Mikaela's Mutt Motel brings rescue dogs to Silo Park for adoption events |
Imagine walking through Silo Park at Old Glory Distilling Co. and meeting a puppy who's been waiting for someone to take him home. That's exactly what happened recently when volunteers from Mikaela's Mutt Motel brought several dogs to the park for an adoption event. These dogs have been through tough times, and now they're getting a second chance at finding families who will love them.
Meet Buttah and His Story
One of the dogs at the event was Buttah, a sweet pup with an incredible survival story. Sarah Tackett, a volunteer with Mikaela's Mutt Motel, was there with him.
She explained that Buttah was part of a group of 13 puppies found in a tiny 3-foot by 8-foot kennel in Kentucky. The conditions were terrible, but the puppies were rescued and brought to Mikaela's Mutt Motel at the ranch in Clarksville.
Since then, the group has been working to find foster homes and permanent families for all of them. Two of Buttah's siblings were adopted at the event that day—a big win for everyone involved.
Buttah's mom was a Pitbull, and based on his short little legs, volunteers think his dad might have been a Corgi or a Basset Hound. He and his siblings are estimated to be about one year old. With his unique look and sweet personality, Buttah and dogs like him are exactly why adoption events like this matter so much.
What Mikaela's Mutt Motel Does
Mikaela Lambert founded Mikaela's Mutt Motel in 2022, but she's been fostering dogs since 2016. In that time, the organization has rescued over 250 dogs. They pull dogs from euthanasia lists, get them fully vetted with medical care and vaccinations, and work to find them loving homes.
Most of the dogs are currently living in foster homes around Clarksville, which gives them a safe, comfortable place to stay while they wait for adoption. The organization recently acquired land and is working to raise funds for a new building that will help them rescue even more dogs in the future.
Weekly Events Around Clarksville
Mikaela's Mutt Motel tries to host an adoption event every week, giving dogs a chance to meet potential families and giving people a chance to see which pup might be the right fit for their home. You can find a list of upcoming events at www.Mikaelasmuttmotel.org/events.
These events pop up at different spots around Clarksville, like Old Glory Distilling's Silo Park, where people can stop by, meet the dogs, and learn about the adoption process. It's a low-pressure way to see if one of these rescue dogs might be the perfect addition to your family.
How You Can Help
The organization runs entirely on donations and foster homes. If you're not ready to adopt but still want to help, there are other ways to get involved. Fostering a dog temporarily can make a huge difference, and donations help cover vet bills, food, and other expenses that come with rescuing dogs from bad situations.
Every dog that gets adopted opens up space for another dog to be saved. For Clarksville animal lovers who want to make a difference, Mikaela's Mutt Motel offers a direct way to help dogs in need right here in the community.
