Local Businesses Can Show Off Their Holiday Lights |
Montgomery County's Deck the County competition is back, and everyone gets to vote for their favorite |
Picture this: you're driving around Clarksville in December, and everywhere you look, businesses are lit up with twinkling lights, wreaths, and colorful decorations. That's the idea behind Deck the County: Holiday Business Showdown, and it's happening again this year. Montgomery County Parks and Recreation is inviting local businesses to join a friendly competition to see who has the best holiday display. And here's the fun part—you get to help pick the winner.
How the Competition Works
If you own a business anywhere in Clarksville or Montgomery County, you can enter your holiday decorations. Head over to christmasinclarksville.com and look for the Business Category. The deadline to sign up is December 11th, so businesses have time to get their lights hung and their displays looking festive.
Once entries are in, the Parks and Recreation team will choose the top five displays. Those five finalists will be posted on the Montgomery County Government Facebook page starting December 12th. That's when voting opens to the public.
From December 12th through December 19th, anyone in the community can vote online for their favorite business display. You can scroll through the finalists and click on the one you think deserves to win. It's simple, and it's a great way to support local businesses while enjoying some holiday cheer.
What the Winners Get
The top three businesses with the most votes will be announced publicly and receive an award. The awards ceremony happens on Monday, December 22nd at 6:00 PM at Downtown Commons. That same night, there's also ice sculpting and a holiday movie, so it's worth stopping by to see what's happening in downtown Clarksville.
The business that gets the most votes wins the trophy and bragging rights for the entire year. They also get a digital ad spot at Downtown Commons that runs from January through March. That's free advertising right in the heart of town—a nice bonus for putting up a great display.
Why It Matters
This competition isn't just about lights and decorations. It's a way for local businesses to connect with the community and show their holiday spirit. When shops, restaurants, and offices go all out with their displays, it makes the whole county feel more festive. Plus, it gives people a reason to explore different parts of town and see what local businesses are up to.

Montgomery County is encouraging every business owner to join in and help "Deck the County" with cheer. Whether you run a coffee shop, a retail store, an office, or any other kind of business, your display could be the one that wins.
If you've been thinking about decorating your storefront this year, now's a great time. The deadline to enter is December 11th, and voting starts just one day later. Get those lights strung up, snap some photos of your display, and let the community decide who takes home the trophy. |
